Our clients loved their inner-city character home but needed more liveable space and natural light. With tight laneway access and heritage constraints, this Adelaide extension required a meticulous approach from concept to completion.
Working with the existing footprint, we extended into the rear courtyard, with every square metre meticulously planned for maximum usability. High-raked ceilings and a Velux skylight added volume and atmosphere to the new living zone, bathing the space in soft, natural light while maintaining privacy in the dense urban setting.
A key feature of the project was the floor-to-ceiling joinery, which transformed a transitional hallway into a high-functioning storage corridor, blending seamlessly into the interior palette. Every line, junction, and material was designed to feel like it had always belonged.
One of the greatest challenges was marrying the old and new. From matching roof pitches to custom-rendered external walls and concealed stormwater drainage, the final outcome feels cohesive and quietly luxurious, just as our clients envisioned.
